InterpretationOf 2016InfluenceArtwork

This year’s art is very colourful. It is also more graphical than all the rest. We used the concept of a coloring book to do the work. The colors are a lot and show how God wants us to colour the world with His word. It is also a prophetic statement to show that God will bring colour to your life. Artistic Theme: The artwork shows the concept of ‘Influence’ in all aspects.

Influence is seen as wind
blowing, fragrance wafting, water
flowing. The big bluish area at the top gives the idea of wind blowing or fragrance wafting in the air. This is depicted as swirls and twirls. Just as wind blows around us so is influence. Just as fragrance wafts through the air so is influence. Even though you may not see them, yet you feel their presence. Influence is felt. The bluish area at the bottom shows water flowing. Influence is about movement and flow. As water flows and carries things with it, so is influence. As God gives us influence, we are able to move things from where they are to where they ought to be.

SCRIPTURAL BASIS

~Matthew 5:13–15 (NKJV) —
“You are the salt of the earth; but if the salt loses its flavor, how shall it be seasoned? It is
then good for nothing but to
be thrown out and trampled
underfoot by men. “You are
the light of the world. A city
that is set on a hill cannot be
hidden. Nor do they light a
lamp and put it under a
basket, but on a lampstand,
and it gives light to all who
are in the house.

~John 3:8 (NKJV) — The wind
blows where it wishes, and
you hear the sound of it, but
cannot tell where it comes
from and where it goes. So is
everyone who is born of the
Spirit.”

~2 Corinthians 2:14 (NKJV) —
Now thanks be to God who
always leads us in triumph in
Christ, and through us diffuses
the fragrance of His knowledge in every place.
~Micah 4:1 (NKJV) — Now it shall come to pass in the latter days that the mountain of the LORD’s house shall be established on the top of the mountains, and shall be
exalted above the hills; And
people shall flow to it.
~Habakkuk 2:14 (NKJV) — For
the earth will be filled With
the knowledge of the glory of
the LORD, as the waters cover
the sea.

~Matthew 13:3–9 (NKJV) —
Then He spoke many things to
them in parables, saying:
“Behold, a sower went out to
sow. And as he sowed, some
seed fell by the wayside; and
the birds came and devoured
them. Some fell on stony
places, where they did not
have much earth; and they
immediately sprang up
because they had no depth of
earth. But when the sun was
up they were scorched, and
because they had no root they
withered away. And some fell
among thorns, and the thorns
sprang up and choked them.
But others fell on good
ground and yielded a crop:
some a hundredfold, some
sixty, some thirty. He who has
ears to hear, let him hear!”

       MAIN ELEMENTS

          The Centerpiece:

image

•The Cross:
The main element in the centerpiece is the cross. It shows Christ as the center of Influence in our lives and the world. The cross has the sign of the fish in it, which was the early Christian mark for followers of Christ.

•The Dove: Representing the
Holy Spirit is the one who
influences the believer.

•The World: We show two
hemispheres of the world on
either side of the cross. This
depicts Christ touching all
parts of the world.

•Light around the cross: We are
the light of the world. We are
the light that must shine into
the darkness of this world

•The Salt: Underneath the cross
there is a whitish pile
representing salt. We are the
salt of the earth.

•Ship’s Wheel: In between the
two hemispheres of the world,
there is a ships wheel. Just as
the wheel influences the
direction of the ship so do we
influence the direction of our
world.

•Compass: Within the ship’s
wheel there is a compass,
which shows direction. It also
speaks to us giving direction
to our world.

•The Blood: there is a thin red
line in the cross that depicts
the blood of Jesus flowing to
the world.

On the Left:

•Seven Pillars: These are the
seven pillars of society –
education, family, science,
business, media, culture,
government

•The Hill: There is a hill formed
like a rock that sits on top of
the seven pillars of society.
This is line with Micah 4:1. It
shows house of the Lord is the
rock that sits on top of all the
systems of our world to
influence it. The church must
be establish on top of all the
hills.

•The City On A Hill: On top of
the hill is a church building
surrounded by beauty. This is
the church sitting in beauty
and glory. The city that is set
on the hill cannot be hidden.
God has positioned us in a
place honour, glory and
visibility.

•The Sower: the right side
shows how we influence the
world by sowing the seed of
God’s word. It is the parable
of the sower. Can you see the
various conditions of the
seed?
Below:

•The Waters: this is based on
Habakkuk 2:14, For the earth
will be filled with the
knowledge of the glory of the
LORD, as the waters cover the
sea. It shows flowing waters.

•Dripping Blood: There is a thin
line of blood from the cross
that touches the waters and is
carried along. As the blood
touches the waters it creates
ripples that reach the ends of
the world.

In our year of INFLUENCE may the
Glory of the Lord fill the earth as
wind and as fragrance as the waters cover the sea.
May the Lord make our lives
beautiful to His glory!
Shalom, Peace and Life to you,
Pastor Mensa Otabil
